Referring to our clinic

If you are interested in referring to our clinic, please follow the instructions below to expedite the process:

Email it to us at dentistry@easternhealth.ca or fax it to us at (709) 777-4171. Please remember to:

Fill out the patient’s name and MCP in the upper right box of the referral form, and ensure the contact information is appropriately listed.
Specify the urgency of care for your patient.
See our important notice below about general anesthesia.

Send us radiographs if available.

Digital radiographs can be emailed to dentistry@easternhealth.ca using a secure email or through CDA net.

Schedule

Our office will schedule appointments as quickly as possible; however, please advise patients it may take a couple of weeks for our staff to contact the patient for an appointment time. Appointment wait-times will vary depending on urgency and treatment needs.

Once a referral is sent to our clinic it will be reviewed by one of our dentists. The dentist will decide on treatment modality, which may include no sedation, mild sedation with nitrous oxide, moderate sedation with an oral sedative and nitrous oxide, or general anesthesia.

Important notice about general anesthesia

If general anesthesia is the ideal option for the child or patient, a consultation appointment is still necessary to assess the patient’s dental needs, review their general health and medical history, as well as discuss the details of surgery. For patients with geographical constraints that live greater than a few hours away, a phone consultation will be performed prior to booking surgery. In some cases, a clinical consultation may still be necessary.
